Santa Rosa Roof Overhaul
Santa Rosa Roof Overhaul
Santa Rosa, Ca
This Wasn’t a Reroof. It Was a Rescue.
Some roofs need replacing. This one needed saving. When we arrived to inspect this home, the signs were impossible to ignore — moss blanketing every surface, flashings leaking from all directions, dry rot eating through the eaves, rotten fascias, and gutters so improperly hung they were sagging and pulling away under the weight of years of neglect. And the shingles? The fiberglass was showing through. This roof had been silently failing for a long time, and this home deserved better.
What We Found Underneath
When we tore off the old system, the full picture came into focus — and it was worse than expected. The entire roof deck was deflecting and sagging for a reason: the plywood installed beneath was an illegal thickness that never met building code. This wasn’t just a roof that wore out. This was a roof that was never built correctly to begin with — a system installed illegally that had been quietly putting the structure, and the people inside it, at risk for years.
There was only one right answer: every sheet of plywood came off, and a fully code-compliant deck went down in its place.
Built Right. Built Safe.
What happened next was more than a reroof — it was a full structural correction done with care and conscience. A code-compliant roof deck was installed throughout, transforming the feel of the entire structure. The difference was immediate and dramatic. But beyond the quality we leave behind, we also think about the next person who will ever walk that roof — the future inspector, the future roofer, the future crew. We build for them too. Every surface overhead should be safe for the people living beneath it and safe for the people who may one day work on it.
From there, we replaced rotten rafter tails and installed new ones to properly support the new overhang CCX plywood. All overhangs and eaves were primed before new nosing and fascias were fitted out, giving the roofline a clean, finished foundation. New penetration flashings were installed throughout. New step flashings were set along every sidewall, followed by new trim counter flashing to seal and protect every transition point correctly. Ventilation — entirely absent when we first arrived — was installed to bring this home up to code and allow the structure to breathe properly for the first time in years.
The Finishing Details
The gutters were refastened correctly, cleaned out, and resealed to ensure they’d continue functioning as designed. And to top it all off, we finished the system with GAF Stone Grey Reflector Series shingles — a modern, high-performance shingle engineered to reflect summer heat and keep the home cooler when it matters most.
The Result
This project touched nearly every component of the roofing system — deck, structure, flashings, ventilation, fascias, eaves, and gutters. What came out the other side wasn’t just a new roof. It was a home made safer, stronger, and built to a standard it had never seen before. When a roof calls for help, we answer — and we don’t stop until the job is done right.
